Rooted, raw and raucous, Na Cailligh are a dynamic four-piece folk band from Ireland, Netherlands and the USA. They met at music sessions in Ireland and Scotland and have kept that unmistakable freedom and playfulness in their arrangements.

With melodies on uilleann pipes and fiddle, blended with complex backing on guitar and the uplifting rise of trumpet, they bring a freshness to the traditional and contemporary alike. Capturing nostalgia in their playing of old folk songs and lively eclecticism in their trad tunes they recreate the essence of folk, but with a touch of other genres – jazz, blues and americana.

It’s folk music as it should be- unpretentious and unpredictable. Na Cailligh translates to “The Hags”, the mythical figures in Irish folklore, who are not necessarily seen as good nor evil, but are powerful beings with strong ties to altering the weather Join Lennard, Maeve, Maaike and Caty as they sail on the winds of folk music, as the undefined, mythical creatures of Na Cailligh.
